Ah, the joys of being vegan while traveling to a country where you don’t speak the language. It certainly poses a few extra challenges that others don’t necessarily have… and if you’re a woman, even more so!
If you have a trip coming up, let us help guide you in the right direction for all things vegan-travel related. From menstrual cups to tooth-powder, we cover it all.

Reusable Everything
Traveling is also acknowledging the environmental impact of certain items, such as single-use cutlery, bottles and straws.
Bringing a pair of reusable bamboo cutlery, glass or metal straws (or even wheat or even pasta!) and a BPA-Free Stainless Steel water bottle will not only help save the environment but it will also save you money! Check out one of our related article here for more ideas and products.

Day Trip Bags
Let’s face it, you need a sturdy bag for the never-ending day trips you’ll be taking. Treat yourself to a beautiful vegan day bag by Corkor or these amazingly fashionable and convenient backpacks from Paris-based Arsayo. Have a look at our article on eco-friendly bags for more ideas.
Vegan Leather Passport Holder
There’s absolutely nothing worse than losing your passport during a trip (yup, even worse than travelers diarrhea!). Having to prove your identity to government officials who may or may not speak your language can feel like a nightmare. Luckily, there are precautions you can take. Making photocopies of your passport and making sure your passport is well-protected is crucial. And by investing in a sturdy passport holder, you take at least some of the stress away.
Vegan Snacks
It’s always a gamble whether or not you’ll be able to find vegan options when traveling. Consequently, it’s smart to be prepared with some filling snacks for your day trip out into the countryside.
Make sure always have a few Cliff bars, Nakd bars, vegan protein bars, oatmeal packets, almond butter packets, packed up, just in case. Find more ideas in this post.
Quick note: always be cautious when packing fresh fruits and veggies because most countries don’t allow the import of fruits and veggies and you’ll likely have to discard your produce before taking off.
Menstrual Cup
Periods and travel are definitely NOT the best mix. Diva cup should make it a little less stressful. This washable — and therefore reusable — little silicone cup folds up and completely replaces the need of a single-used tampon or pad. The best part is, they can last up to 10 years. You’ll never have to worry about running out of pads or tampons again. Through our own experience, Diva Cups can be a saving-grace while traveling. They give you the peace of mind when that time of the month rolls around. A 10 minute boil per cycle and you’re good to go. Oh, and make sure to buy the right model!
Vegan Probiotics & Multivitamins
Travel may be good for our souls but it isn’t always good for our digestive systems. Giving your gut a boost of healthy bacteria may be exactly what you need to ward spending half of your trip on the toilet! Be sure to pick up your vegan probiotic before you head out.
Cruelty Free Toiletries
Toothpaste, lotions and deodorants, oh my! Lots to think about! For most, this is a no-brainer. For others, purchasing a vegan toiletries kit can be a life-saver. You can also find some zero-waste (and vegan) product ideas in one of our other post, here.

Tooth Powder
Tooth powder is a wonderful alternative to gel toothpaste. It’s especially useful for those traveling carry-on only as it saves space in your liquids bag. The Herbs and Bees haven’t always made their tooth powder vegan but after being informed of the cruelty involved with “Propolis” (an ingredient in their tooth powder), they made a complete 180 and removed the ingredient from its products. What’s left is a wonderful tooth powder that won’t take up any room in your liquids bag.
A Simple Wrap-Up for Your Vegan Travels
Traveling as a vegan woman can feel tricky at first, but with the right tools and a little preparation, it becomes fun, easy, and empowering. From reusable cutlery to cruelty-free toiletries, each small choice helps you travel with confidence and care for the planet at the same time. These items are simple, practical, and designed to make your trip smoother so you can focus on enjoying the adventure.
Remember, everyone travels differently. What works for one person may not work for another — and that’s okay! The best part is finding your own rhythm and building a travel kit that makes you feel safe, comfortable, and excited for the journey ahead.
Wherever you go next, we hope these tips help you feel ready, supported, and inspired. Safe travels, and may your vegan adventures be full of joy, delicious food, and new discoveries.
