Variations:
- Make them in bulk and keep them in the freezer.
- Add ‘superfoods’ like chlorella or acai powder to up the nutritional content.
- Vary the spices, dried fruit, and nut butters to your heart’s content.
- Substitute dried fruit for chocolate chips
- Roll your ‘ball’ in dried coconut, chopped nuts, or cocoa powder or even more decadent, dip half (or all) in melted chocolate, place on parchment paper, and put in the freezer until hard.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats
- ½ cup almond butter
- ¼ cup ground flax seed
- 2 tablespoons dried fruit
- 3 pitted medjool dates
- 1 tablespoon liquid sweetener like agave syrup or maple syrup
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Put dates, nut butter, and dates into the food processor and chop until smooth.
- Place this mixture into a bowl and add the rest of the ingredients and stir until everything is mixed.
- Take a tablespoon of the mixture. Roll between your hands until you have a 1-inch ball.
- Keep in an airtight container.
