How to Make Easy Vegan Banana Ice Cream

Sometimes the best treats are also the simplest. Banana ice cream—often called “nice cream”—is one of those magical little recipes that feels like dessert but is secretly made from… bananas. Just bananas! It’s creamy, sweet, and cold like soft-serve, but without dairy, sugar, or anything fancy.

I first started making banana ice cream on a hot day when I wanted something cold but didn’t want to grab store-bought ice cream. I tossed some frozen banana slices in the food processor, crossed my fingers, and watched them swirl into the smoothest, creamiest “ice cream” ever. From that moment on, I always keep a bag of frozen bananas in the freezer. It’s an instant dessert whenever you want one.

This recipe is child-friendly, beginner-friendly, travel-friendly… basically friendly in every way. You can eat it plain, or mix in your favorite flavors like chocolate, peanut butter, berries, or even mint. The best part? It takes about two minutes.


Ingredients

  • 2 sliced bananas, frozen
  • ½ cup frozen berries (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon non-dairy milk

Instructions (Super Simple!)

  1. Place all the ingredients into a food processor or high-powered blender.
  2. Blend until the bananas turn smooth, creamy, and ice-cream-like.
  3. Scoop and enjoy immediately!

If it becomes too soft, pop it back into the freezer for 10–15 minutes.


Fun Variations (Kid-Friendly!)

Try adding:

  • Cinnamon, mint, or orange extract
  • Peanut butter or almond butter
  • Cacao nibs or chopped chocolate
  • Dried fruit
  • A spoonful of cocoa powder for chocolate ice cream
  • Superfood powders like maca or spirulina
  • Frozen mango or strawberries (½ cup is perfect)

Top tip: Keep a stash of frozen bananas in the freezer so you can make this anytime.
