Crunchy Garbanzo Beans

3 cups of cooked chick peas

Notes

Variations:

  • Use curry powder or other herbs and spices to make different flavors of garbanzo beans.
  • Toss the garbanzo beans over salad or even soup for a fun texture.
  • Add lemon juice, zest, or vinegar for a fun flavor.
  • Use different flavored oils.
  • Put soy sauce on for a salty Asian flavor.
  • These crunchy snacks can also be baked in the air fryer. Check often so they don’t burn.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil.
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground sweet or smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chilli powder blend
  • 2 cans (1 can is 15 oz) of garbanzo beans drained, rinsed and patted dry with a tea towel.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F (175°C).
  2. Mix all the ingredients, except the garbanzo beans, in a bowl.
  3. Add the garbanzo beans until they are covered.
  4. Place onto a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure they are in a single layer.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes and shake the tray to turn them over.
  6. Place back into the oven and bake for another 10 minutes.
  7. The garbanzo beans are done when golden and slightly darkened, dry and crispy on the outside, and soft in the middle. Keep an eye on them, so they don’t burn.
  8. They will stay crispy for 2 days if kept in an airtight container once cooled.
