Originally build in 1610, it hosted many historical figures — including Napoleon!! — before going through extensive renovations and reopening in 2017. It’s now ready for it’s next batch of VIPs: World Vegan Travel travelers!
After contacting and visiting seemingly every hotel in Alsace, we finally stumbled upon this little gem and, like many of our travelers after us, instantly fell in love with the place. Forget that it has the perfect amount of rooms and a beautiful dining area… never mind that it’s located in a real Alsatian village, away from the hordes of tourists… leave aside that the place oozes charm and history…
It’s the staff. Of my, the staff is SOOOO good!
From the reception to the housekeeping, everyone is professional and friendly, adhering to any requests you may have promptly and with a smile. During our stays, the entire staff embraces our vegan ways to the fullest and with respect, from ensuring the rooms have all-vegan toiletries and amenities, to the kitchen becoming what we believe to be the best vegan restaurant in the world!
It starts with a huge breakfast buffet, where every item like croissants, yogurt, pancakes, cheese and even meats, are replaced — not removed!! — with perfectly veganized version.
It continues with dreamy lunches of soups, French salads, croque-monsieurs and cheese platters.
It ends with incredible dinner feasts, allowing us vegans to partake of the local cuisine like choucroute, quiche Lorraine and tarte flambée, as well as famous French favorites like Hachis Parmentier, French onion soup and Bourguignon. They even nail cheese fondue!!
We’re not kidding when we say that during our stays La Couronne becomes the world’s best French vegan restaurant! Here’s a video to prove it!
