It was definitely a trip of a lifetime. If you want to be on an incredible trip with delicious and amazing food, catered day trips to nearby Tuscany towns and a home base in an idyllic setting with wonderful people in the Italian countryside , then this trip is for you. Our tour leaders saw to every detail, making me feel cared for and pampered. One of my best trips ever!!
Fantastic!!! This was one of those vegan trips I’ve always dreamed of taking to Italy. 5 Star service all the way. Brighde & Seb were the most awesome travel host from the accommodations @ Ipini Villa (WOW!!!) to our daily excursions around Tuscany. Everything went smoothly even the weather (LOL). It was a joy meeting the other travelers on the trip as well. Thank you again for a wonderful time. I look forward to the next trip with WVT.
It was a wonderful trip for so many reasons. The tour hosts, Seb and Brighde, designed and managed a wonderful visit to the Tuscan countryside. The places we visited gave us a great range of small Italian hilltowns to larger Tuscan cities, all with their own unique flavor and sites to see. We experienced everything from high Italian art to the beautiful Italian countryside. The agriturismo that we stayed at is a wonderful place with fabulous staff running everything, we really felt totally taken care of. On top of it all we had a great group to tour with and we really bonded through the wonderful shared experience.
What a magical trip! The experience was perfectly balanced between captivating sightseeing and engaging activities, ensuring we always had something delightful to do. Magic is an art, and Brighde and Seb are true trip magicians. Every little detail was meticulously planned and executed. When you’re on a World Vegan Travel trip, you can truly leave your wallet at home—every need is anticipated and taken care of. From Brighde carrying a bag full of Euro coins for “loo” time to the expertly hand-picked local guides chosen by Seb and Brighde, every aspect of the trip was thoughtfully arranged to perfection. The culinary aspect of our trip was nothing short of exceptional. Our group had special dietary needs well beyond standard vegan fare, and each of our unique requirements was met perfectly. Every meal was a delightful surprise, showcasing local flavours and creativity while accommodating our specific needs. From breakfast to dinner, the food was always delicious, nutritious, and thoughtfully prepared, ensuring we could enjoy every bite without worry. It was an unforgettable journey, seamlessly blending relaxation and adventure, all thanks to the extraordinary care and attention of Brighde and Seb.
This video, produced by the villa, will give you a great idea of the property but please note that the meals for this group will be exclusively provisioned to provide for WFPB and SOS-free dining. Meals are organic and farm to table.

Florence, Italy
This trip is confirmed.
The I Pini Vegan Agrivilla is a 100% plant-based accommodation nestled among the rolling hills of the historic town of San Gimignano, surrounded by pines, vineyards, olive groves and permacultural gardens. With breezy rooms, a gorgeous saltwater pool, a vegan chef & kitchen and plenty of wine to go around, it’s the perfect place to come home to after a long day of sightseeing. We’ll be having all our dinners here, as well as a few lunches and snacks.
Check out the photos below, and this video that gives you a good sense of what life is like on this trip!
Please note that the itinerary is subject to change as things sometimes change, places close down, or we find a better restaurant or activity. If we need to change anything, it will be only for the betterment of the trip!
We will be meeting at a location in Florence in the early afternoon (the exact time and place will be shared with our travelers before the trip, of course!) for a quick trip briefing and all-around introductions of your fellow travelers.
After a trip briefing, introductions and a toast to our upcoming adventures, we board our bus for the 1-hour drive to our accommodation for the next 7 nights, the Agrivilla I Pini, a 100% vegan hotel tucked in the hills behind medieval San Gimignano.
After check-in, we’ll have time to get to know each other better over some drinks and snacks. before dinner is served at around 7pm.
Accommodation:
Included:
welcome meeting & drinks
dinner
non-alcoholic drinks at the villa
all transportation once the trip begins
Excluded:
breakfast & lunch
transportation to our meeting place in Florence
alcoholic drinks
After our delicious 100% plant-based breakfast, we board our bus for the quick 5-minute drive to San Gimignano, whose “Manhattan-like” cityscape can clearly be seen from our own villa. We will have a walking tour here as well, but you are also more than welcome to wander at your own leisure and explore this perfectly preserved medieval town, and even climb one of its 14 towers (optional) for some of the best views of Tuscany.
We then get back on the bus for a leisurely 45-minute drive to romantic Volterra, one of the region’s gems and often underrated! Offering some of the best sightseeing in Tuscany, Volterra is rich in history, from its Etruscan roots (2000 years ago!) to being absorbed into the Roman Empire (ruins of a theater still survive, and just a year ago they discovered the long-forgotten amphitheater!) and onwards to being an independent city. Today it offers lots of things to the tourists but without the usual crowds we often see in other Tuscan towns.
After lunch at a local vegan restaurant, we’ll meet our guide for an enjoyable 1.5hrs walking tour. Of course, you are completely free to follow the guide or go off and explore the town on your own. For those on the tour, you’ll also get some free time at the end to explore on your own, do some shopping, etc.
The drive back to the villa takes 45mins, and we’ll arrive in time for you to have a bit of free time to freshen up before dinner is served at around 7pm.
Included:
guided walking tour of San Gimignano & Volterra
breakfast, lunch & dinner
non-alcoholic drinks during meals and at the villa
all transportation
Excluded:
alcoholic drinks
Today we explore Siena, a 45min drive away. This medieval city was a proud, wealthy and independent city-state during the Middle Ages and very much Florence’s rival. Today it’s one of the best “hill towns” in Tuscany, with history, sites and plenty of pedestrian-only alleyways in which to wander and explore. We’ll enjoy a guided walking tour with our guide, who will show us around this amazing city, or you are free to explore on your own.
We’ll head back to the villa in time for our 7pm dinner.
Included:
guided walking tour of Siena
breakfast, lunch & dinner
non-alcoholic drinks during meals
all transportation
Excluded:
alcoholic drinks
Today we’re gonna get our bodies moving! You will get the option of going on a 4-hour hike on the famous Via Francigena. We’ll drive to Gambassi Terme and walk back to San Gimignano. Otherwise you are free to explore San Gimignano for some extra shopping time, or more cappucinos on the square!
We will be back at the villa early for a leisurely afternoon, before attending a cooking demo hosted by our very own villa Chef!
We’ll be back at the villa early today to enjoy the pool and grounds, before dinner at 7pm.
Included:
optional hike on Via Francegina
breakfast, lunch & dinner
non-alcoholic drinks during meals and at the villa
all transportation
Excluded:
alcoholic drinks
We start with a scenic 1h30 drive to the small town of Pienza. Set on a crest with marvelous views of the Tuscan countryside beneath it, this small town punches above its weight class with an impressive Renaissance town square, and one lovely lane to explore after another. You will have your own free time here to wander around this lovely town and explore at your leisure.
Lunch will be at a local animal refuge, La Tana Del Bianconiglio, a small animal refuge that’s very much the result of hard work and dedication from owner Ludovica. We’ll first enjoy a delicious Tuscan lunch al-fresco before spending a couple of hours visiting with the animals and learning their stories.
We’ll head back to the villa in time for our 7pm dinner.
Included:
visit & donation at animal refuge
breakfast, lunch & dinner
non-alcoholic drinks during meals and at the villa
all transportation
Excluded:
alcoholic drinks
Today we head off further abroad, starting with 1-hour drive to Lucca. Famous for its perfectly preserved wall, Lucca is a smaller, less touristy alternative to nearby Florence, and a joy to explore.
After lunch we’ll head to nearby Pisa and visit the cathedral and baptistry before giving you the chance to climb up its world-famous tower!
The drive back to the villa will take about 1.5hrs, and we’ll arrive in time for you to have a bit of free time to freshen up before dinner is served at around 7pm.
Included:
guided walking tour of Pisa, including entrance to the tower
breakfast, lunch & dinner
non-alcoholic drinks during meals and at the villa
all transportation
Excluded:
alcoholic drinks
Today’s our last day together, and we’ll make the best of it! There are few options organized for this morning which we will detail a few days into the trip for you to properly plan your final day.
Regardless of what you choose to do, we’ll all end up back at the villa for lunch.
This afternoon is free for you to relax by the pool or wander the property or nearby countryside. We will have a drinks & snacks station so you don’t go hungry or thirsty 🙂
Our last dinner together will be around 7pm.
Included:
breakfast, lunch & dinner
non-alcoholic drinks during meals
all transportation
Excluded:
alcoholic drinks

We can work with you on a payment plan: pay your trip in the usual 2 installments, or opt for several. Contact us to discuss what works best for you!
PAYMENT METHODS
We currently accept US DOMESTIC BANK TRANSFERS, INTERNATIONAL WIRE TRANSFERS and CREDIT CARDS PAYMENTS.
EXTRA PAYMENT FEES
Online Bank Payment – US only: also called eCheck or ACH, we do not charge a fee for this, although your bank may do so. Please inquire with them directly.
Credit card payment: the following fees will be added to the total:
TRAVEL MEDICAL INSURANCE – MANDATORY
This is requirement to join a World Vegan Travel trip. We need to know you are covered for any medical situation, including evacuation, in case of emergency. You will need to provide a policy and emergency contact number in order to join the trip. This can be done just prior to the trip’s date.
Trip Insurance (ie. covering your flight tickets, luggage, etc.) is definitely recommended as well, but not mandatory.
ITINERARY
The itinerary is therefore subject to change, especially if we find an experience that we believe would make the trip even better.
DIET RESTRICTION & ALLERGIES
We do try to accommodate everyone’s food restrictions, especially allergies. We can only do so if you let us know of any requirements when you sign up. We begin working with all our hotels and restaurants a long time in advance, and meals are usually locked several months before the trip. At this point, it is often no longer possible to change menus.
In other words: it is your responsibility to alert us of any dietary requirements, restrictions, allergies and needs, when you sign up.

We do realize our prices seem high. However, when compared to many other tours to the region, we are actually comparatively priced when you take into account that our trips include all meals (and vegan to boot!) and drinks, all the tips for drivers and local guides, and many other extras like a amenities/essentials bag, a free laundry day, etc.
It’s also worth noting that there aren’t many 100% fully vegan tours to Tuscany. Veganism is still somewhat of a new concept in Italy, despite their cuisine being very vegetarian-friendly at its base. Our trip cost does factor in the lengthy and hard work done with all our hotels, restaurants and local partners in educating and preparing them for our visit (meals, advocacy, toiletries, etc.), which is far beyond any tasks that other tour companies are faced with. This work begins several months before the trip, and approaches full-time hours around 2-3 months prior to the trip’s start date.
We also realize that for many, these types of trips are something they’ve dreamed about for many years. As such, we’ve constructed an itinerary that will make this trip truly memorable in regards to our accommodation, meals, and choice of activities.
Absolutely! We have many people on our trip that sign up as solo travelers. However, due to the limited space at our Tuscany villa, we only have 4 single rooms available. Please see our COST & SIGN-UP section for more information.
Should you still be on the waiting list when the trip closes and gets confirmed, we may be able to offer you a single room (depending on availability).
FLIGHTS
You are in charge of your own transportation — whether it be flights, train, bus, car, etc. — to our starting city, and your return transportation from our departure city.
For your arrival, we ask that you try and arrive early on the first day, as our first meeting tends to be just after lunch. This exact time and place will be confirmed at a later date, but do plan ahead adequately to leave you enough time to get to our meeting place by that time. Even better is arriving one or more days before. This would provide you with a chance to take care of jet-lag and visit the town.
Please note that your transportation to our first meeting point is not included.
VISAS
For citizens of western countries (ie USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc), no visas are necessary for a stay of 90 days or less in the Schengen Area, of which Italy is a member. Other European citizens do not need a visa to enter Italy.
TRAVEL/MEDICAL INSURANCE
Medical travel insurance is mandatory on our trip. We need to have assurances that you are fully covered in the event of a medical emergency, including repatriation. You will need to send us your policy detail and emergency contact number before the trip’s start date.
Trip Insurance (trip cancellation, lost baggage, etc.), on the other hand, is entirely up to you, though we highly recommend purchasing it. It often comes packaged along with medical travel insurance, or you may get coverage simply by paying for the trip using a credit card (inquire with your card supplier).
As we are not a travel agency or booking agents, we can’t book any flights or ongoing travel (ie hotels, transportation, etc) for you. However we can surely help with recommendations, suggestions and tips as you look into flights, or extending your holiday. It never hurts to ask, so don’t hesitate to contact us with any queries whatsoever!
We’ll be heading to Italy just before the start of summer, so expect warm-to-hot daytime temperatures, but still tolerable, with cool evenings. While Tuscany gets very hot during its summer, we’re most likely to experience good days with pleasant average temperatures that fall between 12 degrees Celsius (54°F) and 23 degrees Celsius (73°F), although occasionally this coud spike to 30 degrees Celsius (86°F).
While we don’t have a luggage restriction on this trip, we recommend you not to bring more than 1 suitcase per person. You will need to carry your bags only from the bus to the hotel twice (plus the trip to our meeting place) but you should still make sure you can lift it by yourself (ie it’s not too heavy).
We do have one free laundry included on the trip, so hopefully this can help in not over-packing. Laundry will also be available on other days at a fee.
In terms of clothing, it’s a good idea to bring some early-summer garb, such as light cotton pants, shorts, t-shirts, etc. A hat is a good idea to block off the sun. Our villa has a pool so do pack a swimsuit!
A sweater or light jacket for the cooler evenings is a good idea. A rain jacket or a small umbrella could prove useful at this time of year.
Do bring some comfortable, but sturdy, shoes, as we have many walking tours and hiking opportunities. You probably don’t need rugged hiking boots. Hiking shoes or runners with decent grip should do the trick.
You can always bring a 2nd set of comfy shoes/loafers to wear in the evening, for dinner and also afterwards when we’re relaxing with a nightcap.
We will be sending an info packet several weeks before the trip that will include, amongst other bits of information, a packing list.
If you are coming from outside of Europe, then yes, your mobile phone should work, but do check with your carrier to make sure. It is highly recommended to turn off global roaming unless you carrier can offer you a package for your stay in Italy. Otherwise you risk being charged exorbitant fees upon you return home!
If you are a UK or other European citizen, your phone should work as usual as Europe no longer has borders when it comes to mobile phone usage. However do check with your carrier to ensure your package qualifies.
If your phone is unlocked (please check with your carrier directly) you can also purchase a local Italian SIM Card when you arrive in the country (usually sold at airports). You can sometimes find SIM cards on Amazon; for example the Orange Holiday Europe prepaid SIM card.
Our villa does have WIFI but it is quite limited. It may not work in some rooms, but it’s available in the public areas (especially outside), and then connection is a bit sporadic and uneven. Having your own phone with a data plan is definitely recommended.
We will have WIFI on-board our bus. The connection speeds may vary, as will the connection itself.
We provide all accommodation, transportation and meals. All expenses during our included activities are taken care of, including tips for guides and drivers.
You will then only need cash for extra purchases such as souvenirs, alcoholic drinks during meals and at the villa, extra snacks, etc. There are ATMs in every town and credit cards are accepted in most places. This mostly means Visa and MasterCard, with American Express having quite a lower acceptance rate outside of hotels and higher-end restaurants.
The tour leaders will be carrying extra cash. If you decide to go on an optional activity at the last minute but don’t have enough money, we will be able to help you out and you can simply pay us back when we find an ATM.
For drinks during meals: we include non-alcoholic drinks, but alcoholic beverages (beer and wine) will require you to pay the suppliers (ie hotel, restaurant) directly. We will make it very clear what is included before each meal.
Tipping hotel and restaurant staff is not necessary and entirely up to you.
All food on the trip will be vegan, delicious and WFPB SOS Free. As this is our first WFPB SOS Free trip, and perhaps the first ever in Italy, we are unable to accommodate gluten free.
For other allergies or food sensitivities that you might have, please email [email protected] before booking and get Brighde’s confirmation in writing that you can be accommodated before booking.
We do have quite a lot of walking activities on this trip, with a fair amount of uphill and downhill walking, since most Italian towns are build on hilltops. A certain amount of physical fitness will provide for a happier trip. Having said you can always opt to skip these visits but this would somewhat dampen your enjoyment of the trip.
Youth above 16 years young are welcome. We are currently not accepting any younger children.
There’s no upper age limit, though do note that there is a fair amount of walking on this trip.
We will provide water, juice, coffee, tea, some non-alcoholic cocktails and kombucha during our time at the villa and during meals when on excursions.
Alcoholic beverages are not included. You can pay for those on the spot or sign it to the room and pay when checking out.
World Vegan Travel aims to be a safe place for all LGBTQ travelers. We have a zero-tolerance policy on discrimination of any sort.
Generally speaking, Italy is considered a gay-friendly country and public opinion on homosexuality is generally regarded as increasingly culturally liberal. Same-sex civil unions and unregistered cohabitation have been legally recognized since June 2016.
